The Focus of Leadership - Designing Strategic Plans to Match Visions 

- The leader is one driven by vision, who plans better, persists when others have faded out and who is immortal in the history of that entity-Padma Srinivasan.

The roadmap to a corporate success pre-requires the promoter to view, zoom in the structure and match action to the plan. Vision backed by aggressive aspiration to succeed elevates an ordinary performer to the top rung. The enterprise is built brick by brick towards the shape and design preplanned.

Leaders and Leadership have been defined, time and again, in different contexts and theories based on the leaders who have succeeded in that era. The vision leads them to success and the leader continues his plan on and on.

VISIONARIES
Vision means a dream, hallucination, apparition, idea, mental picture, image, visualization or a revelation. The mission of an entity works along the vision. The Corporate strategies, redefined and rewritten, are to bring about the competitive leadership, differentiation in the business space and focus on the vision and mission. The organization of Microsoft is where it is now because of Bill Gate’s vision; Infosys technologies is a success story because of a simple visionary man named Narayan Murthy. Even Wipro had a humble beginning dealing in vegetable oil initialing. How it has prospered to the canvas and arena is to the visionary leadership. It is the thought seed that has germinated, nurtured by vision, shaped by the leading hand. Vision backed by aggressive aspiration to succeed elevates an ordinary performer to the top rung.

Any world agoging enterprise is started humbly by an innovator who can think in-depth and work to achieve what he started. A survival or esteem need may also trigger the visionary instincts. The Oberoi chains of hotels were created by Oberoi who was forcefully evacuated from Pakistan and who relocated to India to survive with his family.

THE VISION EQUATION
The ideology of David Gleicher maintained that organizational change dynamics follows the change equation of
D x V x F> R , Where D- dissatisfaction, V-vision, F-first steps and R- resistance to change.

But Carol Verret, in her article states that following are the idealistic expectations form a leading leader. They are 
- Develop market IQ 
- Know the enemy 
- Agonizing Reappraisal 
- Positioning rates 
- Partnering.

QUALITIES OF TRANSFORMING & VISIONARY LEADERS:             

In a growing globalized environment, converting challenges to opportunities then into wealth creation require a fine blend of strategic integration of resources and competencies. The competitive environment has brought about paradigm shifts in the comprehensive conceptual framework of organizational goals, systems, processes, skills and lookouts. It is no longer enabled to rest on the previous functional setup and design waiting for things to happen. Here the leader plays a significant part diagnosing the gaps, intervene if variances occur and reinforce the vision and mission-the essence of organizational set up.

LALIT SURI - A HOTELIER WITH A DRIVE
He is an automobile engineer by education and an hotelier by business choice. He is the only hotelier in the country having hotels from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and from Ahmedabad to Kolkata. He initially undertook a 2-year specialization in automobile engineering with Vauxhall Motors, England and joined family run Delhi Automobile Ltd in 1971.

When the Suri group diversified into hotels in 1982, with Bharat Hotels, Lalit Suri become its Joint Managing Director. In October 1988, the first property of Lalit Suri’s company’s – The Grand Intercontinental Hotel – was commissioned in New Delhi.

Today, Bharat Hotels has seven properties, one each in Srinagar, Goa, Khajuraho, Udaipur, Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore. And Suri is not off his expansion path. He has just won the bid for Kolkata’s Great Eastern Hotel and plans to invest about Rs. 1,000 crore in four other properties in Ahemdabad, Hyderabad, Noida and Jaipur.

Suri bid Rs. 52 crore for Great Eastern Hotel, much higher than the next bid of Rs. 40 crore and the reserve price of Rs. 30 crore. “It still is a good deal. We have an upgrade plan of Rs. 120 crore towards this property, which will emerge a five-star luxury one,” he says. Besides, Suri is busy with his first overseas operation, a luxury property in Dubai, a 20,000 sq.ft. property in Palm Island.
We can deduce the driving force behind Bharat Hotels on the expansion spree. It all happened due to the Lalit Suri’s vision and aggressive planning.

STRATEGIES AND VISION

The strategies stem from the mission and vision of the organization. To have an edge over the stifling competition and overriding global implication, a pioneering vision is rule of the game; or else the firm will be lost in swirl of changes.

CONCLUSION
Thus as Organizations expand and venture into wider global markets, the executive and managerial workforce must have technical competence, international expertise and a global perspective. In short, they must be prepared to become global leaders, equipped to meet the demands of global organizations.
