Dear All,

I work in PSU as Ad.Off.-(HR). Its been 5 months since I joined this company and I feel that there is not much that I was able to do during this period.

I am really disappointed to see the lack of commitment of the employees and the height of complacency which exits......and it is difficult to take.

I understand that it is a PSU but  our competitors are doing reasonably well and we are at the bottom of the list.

Also what I have noticed is the fact that the HR department is majorly doing the admininstrative job and nothing much is done to motivate the employees.

I need your suggestions and opinions stating how as an HR person I can change things.

You can write to me on CHRM or on my Off .email id: somi.kanaujia@nic.co.in

1. COMPANY HAS ALREADY FOUND OUT THIS PROBLEM .

2. We had already hired Price Waterhouse and Coopers a global firm which will be looking out all the problems related to the performance of the company even it includes HR starategy and as a result you have been recruited as a HR specialist in the company. The results would be seen in near future, the report is going to be finalised and to be submitted by some time.

3 AND THIS IS FOR YOU
And dont hesitate as it is starting of your career and we look some positive energy from you .

Getting the best from people at every level when there is constant change is the key to sustainable competitive advantage. Solid strategies, processes and technology alone do not deliver results. It takes people to accept, adopt, drive, and sustain the change to realise tangible impact.

The bottom line: HR is increasingly seen as a strategic linchpin—one that needs to work closely with operations, finance, and other corporate departments to help drive business strategy and success.

What I understand from your comments is that the Organization needs to undergo CHANGE. The TOP Management, the Middle management and the employees need to put in efforts to bring this change. Change management is a specialized area in HR and sometimes its very difficult to bring in Change. Please refer to chrm articles and Knowledge center and briefcase to read and know more about Change and Change Management . But sometimes you need to "convince your TOP management" to undergo this change and then begin the real effort & Money to do it.

I guess in your Organization first needs to do a "NEEDS ANALYSIS" and then identify the all the pain areas and then make amends where required and bring in New policies and prodecures and implement the necessary changes. Take Expert outside help where required.

One more thing is if its not evidently proved where you need to change and do it trial and error method, a lot of effort, time and money might get wasted. So do your NEEDS ANALYSIS and identify the pain areas and then move forward.

Sometimes, its how you bring the change, that matters, along with what changes you bring.

Wish you all the best.
