MOTIVATION Success in any organization largely depends on the employees. For the success of a given task, the employer needs motivated staff. Money has been always a factor that motivates the employees. But this is not the only factor which will motivate them to perform effectively. There are other factors, which need to be concentrated other than monetary benefits in the form of emoluments per month, incentives, and other fringe benefits.
Organization culture is one of the strong motivation factors. The core values and beliefs of the organization dictate its culture. The culture of a service organization, say an Educational Organization may focus on customer service or on Quality Education. The culture within the organization largely influences the manner in which the people at various levels behave and interact with others.
Rewards and recognition is yet another important factor which motivates the employees. It is something very valuable and generates in them the feeling of being important in the organization. Rewards do not have to hold any monetary value. It can take the form of a certificate, a momentum or even an appreciation in the annual get-together of the organization. Rewards in the monetary form are appreciated among lower level employees for need satisfaction.
Job Enrichment is a way to motivate employees by giving them increased responsibility and variety in their jobs. The purpose of job enrichment is to improve the quality of an employee's job and therefore motivate the employee to accomplish more. Job Enrichment will cause significant increase in employee satisfaction and decrease in absenteeism. It allows the employees to have more control in planning their work and deciding how the work should be accomplished.
