I feel Importance of HR is inevitable and the perspective has changed a lot bcoz of IT.

Traditional HR setup is no more in visibility, due to change in the nature of job in related to IT. When it comes to IT...its totally knowledge management.

Order of the day is Proactive, strategic and more as a Business partner rather than HR.

Hence, obviously HR gained lot of importance in IT, due to the difference that exists in demanding situations.

Ur comments on my views!!!

I agree with your viewpoint.

Let's say in the year 1995 (before the IT Boom) How many of us would have really thought of having a RECRUITMENT-MANAGER. Interestingly, Wipro Technologies has a separate department called "Talent Transformation".

The skill matrix. competency mapping we all are talking about these days....is because of the IT industry.

Consider these statistics:

There are more than 400 consultancy firms in bangalore (including freelancers) and the money transaction between them is a whooping 60 crores a month. (economic times - August 2004)

I personally feel, when the IT is on slump.....so is HR.....

Dear team,

When IT have changed the even life style of us. Nothing is left untouched with IT can you name any, so why this HR which we understand the most important area.

Now we can not be that effective without this IT surrouding as we are or would be more in nearing time.

In the IT industry HR is given importance(new tools, new techniques new strategies) and the growth of HR has been trememdous.(probably its more of people oriented)

But it the manufacturing segment the basic things remains the same, not much of difference. Though a little bit changes are there its only in the MNC's which has come in to the sectors.

i believe Its because implementing a change in the manufacturing sector is not easy (relatively easier in the IT segment )

HR has to go a long way inthe manufacturing sector,but in IT YES it has undergone tremedous chages and the importance given is very high.
