SAP consultants continue to command the highest salaries, despite a downturn in the ERP market that has seen salaries of ERP consultants, project managers and programmers fall across the board. Of all the ERP packages (including Oracle, BaaN, Peoplesoft, J. D. Edwards, for example), by far the most commonly used in Europe and North America is SAP R/3.
From a business standpoint, the major advantages of SAP are obvious – namely, by linking business functions, it updates all related vital information automatically and saves millions of dollars a year in administrative and fulfillment costs.
• Easy integration with common Windows-based programs such as MS Word and MS Excel. • Configure-to-order SAP systems for small- to medium-sized businesses. • Flexible Ethernet networking that integrates into local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), company intranets and the Internet. aladin

Hello,
The demand for ERP is amazing - 150$/hr is not uncommon in the US for these expertise. The power of a integrated database like a ERP is amazing indeed.
However if you are thinking of plunging into one , pls remember these developments :
1) SAP is in the throes of being sold to Microsoft . If it happens no one can predict if MS would grow SAP or would simply keep it as it is. No point learning up a software which will not grow. 2) Peoplesoft which was probably the best in the HRIS business has been bought over by oracle which has its own HRM product called Oracle apps HRMS. They are sure to x-x-/ the product within time (latest within 13 years which is commitment made to existing PS users).
Hence Oracle HRMS seems to be the safest bet. Regards Jaswinder
