Dear Friends,

We are an IT company investing a lot of time and money in training up fresh Engineers on various platforms. However, once they are trained, they are being actively targetted by our competition. We would like to institutionalise some system so that they serve us
for atleast a period of 2 years after joining.

I would like to know what are the various options under which we can enforce a 2 year lock-in with the company. I understand that bonds are not always legally enforceable and implementation of this is not easy. I would like some views on going about the same.

Thanks

Bindu

Hi Bindu,

It is not appropriate from HR perspective to put lock-in period of service. In my opinion, when a person is not willing to continue in a company, you can force him to stay but if u force a person, he will not put his heart in the work. As soon as two years will be over, he will leave. How long u can force a person to work with u? A person who is not motivated will not stay long. Better to take some steps that the people are motivated to stay and put their full efforts in the work.

Its again a debatable issue how to motivate people?

Hi Bindu & Nicole,

Well, to motivate a person, do u think it is in our preview ? As rightly said by one of the Management Thinker "Self Motivation" is the best motivation. My comment would be that we can make people realize how imp they are to the co and can be a catalyst and support them.

Regards

Ayesha
