Hello all, We are in the process of conducting a assessment centre on behavioural competencies for 350 senior executives of our organisation and I would like to understand if any one has any tools and exercises (case studies, role plays, business games) that can be customised and used for this assessment.
An indicative list of the key competency heads that would be measured are : 1. Result Delivery 2. Strategic orientation 3. Integrity 4. Engaging and motivating others 5. Strategic influencing 6. Analytical ability 7. Customer focus 8. Commercial orientation
Would really appreciate some help on this. Regards Rajesh Roy

Hi Rajesh,
You may want to check out these books, they have detailed outlines on how to go about implementing facilitation techniques (especially for senior management) through management games, roleplays cases, discussions etc.
1) Facilitation Skills: The ASTD Trainer's Sourcebook by Dennis Kinlaw
2) Principles of Facilitation: The Purpose and Potential of Leading Group Process by David Sibbet
3) Magic of Nlp Demystified: A Pragmatic Guide to Communication and Change by Byron A. Lewis
See if you can get hold of these books or any standard book on facilitation should be of use to you.. Regards, Jagadish |

Dear Colleagues,
Personally I have my bias against Assessment Center as a means of deducing or getting what Management wants, be it Recruitment, Evaluation etal.
I see it as a forum that could be equated to a "zoo", please forgive my comparism where Executive watch and see who makes the first flaw or mistakes.
It should also be noted that partcipants could go on with an attitude to impress who is evaluating and at the end of the day they are just a bunch of empty barrels-making so much noise.
However on a more intellectual level, it is a good forum for Brainstorming towards problem solving.
As addition to what could be discussed in the forum I would add the following:
Change Management
Talent Management
Diversity Management
I hope these could be useful towards striking a balance in the frequency of usage and purpose of its use.
Thanks. |
