Dear Readers,

Very few things in life are as exciting and challenging as embarking on a new endeavor or challenge. What I'm referring to is the power of taking small steps. Making small improvements in our life, which over time will create spectacular results. I'm talking about the ability to take action on such a small scale, that everyone can do it. Most people don't truly succeed in life because they feel overwhelmed with the "Big Picture" and the demands of day to day living. Do not underestimate the power of taking that first small. I can almost hear some of you say, "but Bimal, what is the first step?"

The first step, in my opinion, should always be to finally decide, truly decide what our outcome is going to be? This will then empower us to take action. A decision only becomes one when it is followed by action. The first step is always the hardest. Hopefully the following steps will help you to being taking those small steps:

1. To once and for all decide to make a change now, today. The rest of these steps are meaningless without this first one. Even something as simple as "I will call my mother or father today; or I no longer need credit cards in my life; I will give up smoking; I will be less sarcastic toward people.... "

2. Begin by taking a simple, small step toward your goal. Do not try and achieve it all at once. Remember to make it small and manageable. It could be purchasing a new book and reading the first chapter or just the first 10 pages. Instead of calling one of your parents you can write them a short note and mail it or drop it off. Instead of cutting your credit cards) you can stop carrying them in your purse or wallet (believe me, this actually works).

3. If possible-write it down. It doesn't have to be a full-fledged journal, but writing down your small victories will give you the inertia and affirmation that you need to become unstoppable.

4. Do not become discouraged if you don't see any immediate results. Rome wasn't built in a day, neither will our life. If we stay focused on our outcome everyday, we will increase our chances of achieving our outcome a hundred fold.

Taking that first step is vital! The subsequent steps will guarantee you a change in your circumstances over time. I wish you luck on this exciting journey called life. Next time we will talk about our beliefs and how they can pave a road to good fortune or a ruinous path of self-fulfilling prophecies. Like children are full of curiosity and appreciation, let us awaken the child in us and discover deeper meanings in life!!

Thank you for your time and attention!!

Warm Regards

Bimal Kapoor
