Hello,
Abraham Lincoln once said,
Sell your brain and brawn to the highest person but never put a price to your soul…..
Therefore everything is not saleable
Selling conveys an impression that we are trying to force ourselves on others….. We are trying to align ourselves according to the companies needs and in this process we loose our originality.
Secondly we sell commodities and Human beings are not commodities…. All of us know what happened when FW Taylor through his doctrine of scientific management reduced human beings to small parts each having a different function. I would say that this selling concept is the cause of all perils in the organization as neither the company gets the best deal and nor the person.
I would not completely agree with the fact that our success depends upon our skills to sell. For this we will have to ponder on the definition of the word success…… If success means rising up the corporate hierarchy then probably yes selling would take us far but if it means leading a happy life ….. then NO …. It’s important to know what we want from our life and work and then pursue it with vigor…… Success and skills will automatically follow…..
Was Jonathan Levingston good in selling ….. No…. but he was successful….
Think about your definition of success
Warm Regards Tara |
