Dear Friends,

With the advent and advancement of HR processes like Organizational Development, Career Planning is becoming a buzzword in corporate world.

As far as I know, the objective of Career Planning is to bring out and utilize full potential of an employee. But, my question is, whether CP is the activity to be done by an individual employee, or, it is a management function, thereby, a responsibilty of an organization ?

I keenly look forward to views of management gurus as well as those, pursuing/ studying HR domain and members on this group.

Your responses will help many of us understand the right perspective of CP system.

Regards

Rajasekar

Hi Raja,

Career planning is the management function therby it is organisation's responsibility.
Individual employee can have his own CP but that is nothing to do with Organisation cp which is prepared in respect of him.

Hello,

Career Planning is a concern for the individual as well the organization, meaning it is interdependent. Every employee always plans his career path and in the same way the organization also defines the career path for the employee by considering the career aspirations on the employee.

So Career planning is a mutual responsibility of the employee and the organization and if we do not find the alignment between the employee and the organization's career planning, it really becomes a concern to ponder over for the organization.

Regards,

Gayathri
