Dear Friends,
A few days ago I read a beautiful story that speaks about the philosophy, management needs to adopt desperately in today’s information economy dominated by speed, connectivity and intangibles. It is very basic and is based on simple principles of psychology and group dynamics.
It comes from a very popular book. I liked it so much that I want to share an abridged version of it with all of u. The story will enable us to see our organizations and our employees in a new light……… work so that everybody gets to work and not just has to work…...where people walk out with smiles on their faces and walk in with enthusiasm and energy!
So would u like to know the formula???
But First I wud like u to answer these questions. If it is a positive I think the magic potion can really work wonders for us !!! So all set? Lets go!!
Does ur organization still views the production process as units entered, units processed, units finished, units sold and revenue generated?
Are the Organisational goals really shared ? I mean is there a shared support or just a shared awareness of the organizational goals?
Does the management focus on walking the talk or on honest talk to begin with?
Do we have something called confidential information in our organization?
Who do you think ur organization exists for? Your customers and shareholders?
Do u all wear ur hearts on ur sleeves or think work runs on logic reason predominantly?
Who is in charge in ur organization? i.e., who is in control?
What do u think is ur role as a manger? A leader’s or a policeman’s ? Do u find it difficult to balance both sometimes?
Do you think people are normally selfish and it is very difficult to make them work together?
Do u think people like to goof up on work and earn easy money?
How far/close are line managers to you?Would u like to build more cooperative relationships with them?
What do ur workers feel about u? what kind of a person r u to work for?
What is the model of achievement in ur organization; vertical or horizontal?
Do u feel there is a mountain of inertia around the company?
Are you finding it difficult to build trust with ur employees?
Are the people in ur organization preoccupied with their right and territories rather than their responsibilities that come with them?
Who are the best employees in your organization?
How do u know they r the best?
Do u believe in ur workers?
Do they know this?
Which motivator is used more in ur company- cash or congratulations?
What is a congratulations?
How shud we do it?
When do we give it?
AND Lastly…
What do you think success is all about and who are you trying to achieve this for?
How do you plan to achieve this?
Can I have some inputs on these questions from you…
Very soon I’ll post the story on the group as well..so that all of us can enjoy its brightness and may be together we can strike up the idea to implement the prescribed ways in our own organizations…. Regards senthil |
