Hi all

The more and more I look at the current HR scene the more and more I feel that HRD is a misnomer to the work it does and responsibility it has. Do you agree that it is time to change the name to reflect its work better ? if so what would the new paradigm be called ?

Under the present circumstances, HR may be renamed as PEOPLE PRACTICES OR PEOPLE BEHAVIOURS. I hope naming in these lines would reflect this discipline still better.

How about coining it as Employee Relationshionship management or Capability Building team/ department.

As we all know that HR is not all about making people happy and comfortable rather to make your people productive. Ensuring their happiness and comfort are the steps towards reaching our ultimate objective of making them competitive and productive.

Would love to see the group expressing their opinion on the same.

Would make more sense i feel if we can rename it Talent Accquisition & Managemet Team.

However as some one very famous said " Whats in the name?".....it is all about what we do to make a difference to our org's where ever we are working. We in HR need to understand that we are a integral part of the org and that both the org and we are interdependent. HR in the new economy should groom itself as a function which tell the org about the emerging trends in the Human Resource domain as well be a key part of any org decisions taken.

Dear All,

The word "people" implies and includes everything related to it such as "business strategy". I feel people practices or people behaviours would be more apt and suitable since the practices more especially the behaviour of the people is having overall influence over the business strategy, acting as a change agent or administrative expert, and will be the deciding factor of the fate of an individual or an organisation as a whole.

Hope,this would be clear.
