All employees in all organizations hate HR.  They consider HR as nothing but a division that just recruits and does admin. This is the statement of a high profile professional(other than HR) employee. So what is your experience?

Please be transparent enough to share your views on this..

Pooja

Hi Pooja

Lets be very clear on one thing. As Kuashik rightly said, love it or hate it, they cant ignore it. HR is one such department without which no organization will function. Any organization starts with people and ends with people. And who manages PEOPLE? Its the HR. Our jobs have been very critical for the organizations that do well on profits and management. With the right rules and poilicies in place, do you think the employees will be mangeable.

If a high profile professional said you that HR is the most hated team in an organization, you should respond by saying that he/she reached to that level because of the people who HR hired, because of the performance management that HR does, because of the policies that HR lays.

We have to be confident about our roles. The very need to discuss on this topics shows that we lack that confidence.

Cheers!

Radhika

Hi,

"Business Manager," India's best HR magazine conducted a survey which was published in Nov.2006 issue on the same subject-DO EMPLOYEES HATE HR ?

Magazine covered 2145 employees belonging to shop floor, middle level and managerial level and the results were startling. 53% said YES and 47% said NO.Employees also made some statements justifying their perception. The statements were like that:

HR deptt,. thana Hai aur manager thanedar.

HR ka to danda hi ghoomta hai.

HR ki dadagiri chalti hai

Top management to bhala chahta hai par HR wale har jageh taang ara kar kam kharab karte hai.

HR hota hi hai employees ko dabane ke liye.

The employees who responded in favour their statements were ;

Hr helps us not only in official matter but alsoin personal issues.

proved to be a true friend in need.

HR listens to employees when others are gaginst us.

HR pay respect  and talk with dignity.

Pioneer of HRD movement in india Dr. Udai Pareek took a serious note of it gave a call to all HR professionals by using the contents of survey to introspect their role and change the perception ,employees have about the profession.

My submission is that it  is for HR professionals to create a like or dislike  for himself  by his style of functioning, he adopt. He is the change agent in the organisation.

Whether you like it or not, human resources are as critical or if not the most critical resource in any organisation, even virtual ones. It is like Finance, technology, risk , community , land. You need to manage them as you need to other resources. It is a mandatory aspect. So employees per se do not hate other employees or hr. what is meant is that employees dislike many hr policies and practices, which is subjective. HR Manager always need to follow organisation's objectives and expectations from its human resources; but in doing so he can also carry expectations of human resources to the management. To the extent he succeeds in aligning the two, the function will be liked by employees.
