Dear Friends,

A topic for debate / discussion. Who is better for HR - male or female? In the present environment where HR practice in corporate India come of age, employers today are exhibiting a preference to employ more women in HR as compared to men.

What do you think may be the reasons for this shift. What are the basic difference in approach of people managemtn when its comes to men & women.

Are females in HR successful if so why and if not why? Is it rewarding for the organisations to employ females in HR? You are welcome to participate in the debate / discussion.

Warm Regards,

Laskhman

Dear lakshman,

Its a good debate to start with. As per my opinion women are equally competent to the men in every field. But if we will talk in the HR prospectus then surely employeer prefer Women as they produce more rewarding for the employeer as well as other employees because of few reasons.

1. Women are more soft spoken (which is key to HR)
2. HR does not require much physical labour.
3. There is always a 'F' factor associated.

But in some areas like IR and some times in (C&B), women are not much preferred.

Over to the members..

End of the day, HR is a ll about Developing and Managing People. Female by nature are very good in interpersonal skills. It does not mean, Male does not have these skills But the percentage is relatively higher in Female. Once you have good interpersonal skills, u can achieve many things without conflict. Empathy, perseverance and burning desire to excel are few unique qualities in us . Hence employing female in HR is rewarding to the organisation only.

Hi, I dont think this could be about gender. I think its more about attitude, personality, ability to think logically or emotionally as the case may be, I worked with HR bosses, both male and female and i think both were good and bad. It is situational. Ladies are good when emotional ones are concerned, and men when its bot logical thinking.

Hi Lakshman,

I think it should not be gender biased, end of the day, the capability of any professional matters to an organisation.

Yes, in terms of people management women are most sort after because of the emotional bent of mind and sensible approach - can consider all aspects and as a trend women have established their performances and are recognised and well accepted in the HR corporate world.

Regards

Jyoti
