This is a beautiful and challenging opportunity you have, and this will help you to learn the real time HR practices right from the root level.

An idle HR policy is required by the law and others and should be in written form, which will enhance communications with employees and clarify expectations.

Before preparing HR policy certain factors should be considered:

Organization Climate
Organization Culture.

If you are employed in a Manufacturing company, try preparing Standing Orders, which will help you in defining the rules and regulations about the company. Please refer Industrial Employment  Act 1946.

Policies can be prepared on the following areas:

Giving clear picture to the employees about the organization, its nature of business, Annual Turn over, Global Locations, Board of Members and other related people associated with top management.

If your organization employees women employees, it is always better and safe to have  a policy which  prohibits Sexual  Harassment.

Policy addressing Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), which will abolish discrimination between male and female workers

If your organization employees Bonded or Contract Labours, idle policy should be developed.

Policy with regards to Leave viz.. Sick Leave, Maternity Leave, Annual Leave,Casual Leaves.

Policy with regards to motivate employees such as quarterly or half yearly or annual bonus based on their or team performance.

Sign on Bonus while hiring a candidate for your organization

Policy or schemes for motivating employee to refer their friends supported with good incentive or awards.

Policy addressing the confidentiality and the protection of proprietary and trade secret information.

Policy addressing the issues of employee

Policy with regards to conducting quaterly or half yearly or annual "Pat on the Back " meet.

I hope the above few points will help you.

Regards,
Prakash

Hi...

As prakash said , its a golden chance to prove yourself ..

Consider this as well

Allowances ( Travelling , phone, etc)..

On board practices ( new joiners expenses , induction lunch & stay)

Benifis for each grade / level of employees ( includes the limit of insurance & medical reimbursements etc)

Regards

Sads

Hi,

I guess the above stated covers it all!!!

On a lighter note, you can also formulate policies for th well-being of the organization like:

1) Quaterly/Half-yearly/Annual get togethers for employees

2)Corporate Social REsponsibility

Cheers!

Radhika

This is Lakshmi and working in a start up IT Company in Bangalore. As I have to frame Policies on Joining/Relocation Assistance, Referral Bonus, leave policy, mediclaim, etc, please help me out on the same.

We have couple of employees joining with us from other states. Kindly help as what is the relocation assistance or reimbursement we should follow for Single and Married Employees.

If the policies can be shared, it would be highly beneficial for me.
