Hello, let me add that the practice shared in your organizations is now-a-days used by many organizations to help the new joinees to blend into their job descriptions. This is also called "Buddying" and is a brilliant kind of ice-breaking for new hires. In my organization, apart from all these things we have a very good employee engagement program where employees can share their thoughts and opinions on the practices, policies and procedures followed by the organization via the company's intranet site.
