Hi Friends,

I see that today more and freshers are landing up into HR jobs especially into recruitments. I am talking about people who might have done their education in some other area like engineering, commerce, etc.; but because of lack of jobs in the market get an easy entry into the sourcing jobs.

Want sincere suggestions from all my friends whether this trend is good for the overall reputation of HR? Or should we concentrate only on intake that is more HR oriented; education as well as skills wise?

Regards

Radhika

Dear Radhika,

I see its really very easy to enter into HR these days, what with staffing companies & placement vendors setting up stores in every nook & corner of of a city. Infact, these have become a stepping stone for entering into the HR domain.

Lets understand this..

1. HR is an interest for a fresher without any degree / qualification.
2. HR is sought after by engineering graduates
3. HR is predecided as a career by people backed up with HR qualification

Now from the above, 2 & 3 types have companies hiring them from campuses or entering the HR domain for these people equipped with the HR degrees along with engineering & other backgrounds is easier and normal.

The threat lies from type 1 who utilize staffing companies & placement vendors as an entry into HR thereby adding to the mass overload of HR professionals in the economy. These are the candidates who later undergo certification / diplomas to climb the ladder to a small/mid sized company and thereby aspiring for corporates.

So, primarily Recruitment/Sourcing has become a entry function for aspiring HR professionals. To break this ginx, I feel there needs to be a renowned certification (govt & institutions approved) as a prerequisite for entering the Recruitment/Sourcing  domain, for staffing companies & placement vendors.

My two bits of it, over to the other members : )

Regards,

Jaswinder

I agree to jaswinder. The staffing companies are luring these people to join the domain, thereby giving easy access for the HR plunge.

Radhika, Jaswinder, shaolin & Others, ITeS/BPO remain the most exploited sector from which the placement vendors hire the people as consultants/recruiters. The reason being these people being fedup of night /rotating shifts with answering calls & they are better preys to turn them into sophisticated HR recruiters with a days job, salary and placement incentives.

Jaswinder, i totally agree with you. And Anuj, as you rightly said, ITeS/ BPO ector is the target market for this...But how will they have any other HR domain knowledge apart from sourcing and recruiting jobs...is his crowd good for an organization...

or will it increase the HR attrition rates...

Cheers!
