Hi All,

I work for a software company based out of Hyderabad as a Mgr - HR.  We have implemented the policy of restriction of cellphones in office.

There was a discussion by the employees as to when the cellphones are not allowed into the office and said no personal calls in office, then why Managers call on our personal mobile numbers on a holiday asking us to report to work.

I want  to have a debate on this and list out the advantages & disadvantages of using cellphone in work area.

The use of cell in office has to be viewed from the viewpoint of both the owner and the other staff in the office. It "is" a necessity to allow one to keep in touch with his/her friends /relatives in times of emergency . Yet it does prove to be a deterrent in the functioning of the owner as well as the other staff members as the ringing phone is a distractor.

but, it is depend upon the seat, if the cell phone are necessary and contribute to attain the goals that organization are set him, then its good

But, in some cases it causes lot of loss of time and other unfuritfull activities.

HI All, Effecting Work as Quality n Quantity it all Depends on the person So Attending Calls During Office work sldnt b Given much Priority or its to b seen only if the quality of work is decending

from my point of view using cell in office should be prohibited its disadvantages is more than advantage, nowaday with this BB and I-phone employees are more concerned to reply to their BB messenger than replaying their e-mails and focussing in their work, however if we are in managerial position its very hard to ask your subordinate to not use their cell specialy if you do not have a policy

using a cell during working hours should be closely monitored by departement manager and supervisor and i advise that every company who do not have a clear policy to set one cause im sure it will help its prodactivity end of the day every desk have a line phone which can be used when its needed
