Women & HR scenario in India

Dear All,

I am a bit confused on the issue of "Women & HR scenario in India" please revert with your views on my findings..With All my respect to womenhood or Femine spirit there are certain questions that are troubling me.

If you look around you will see lot of software companies hiring females for HR positions. There are lot of companies where in only females are in HR. So many companies you will see where in HR is delibarately asked as female. I don't have any question on any one's criteria of selection, but why so. Is it that the HR profile is such companies is a domain of female .Or is it that these companies want to hire females for a very routine job like filling up induction forms or arranging interviews etc , where in satisfying male candidate for too long in this boardum is too difficult.

Very honestly what I have seen very few females remain with the HR profile after 5 years. I will tell you simple criteria for selecting HR stream by females in Management school, its very simple. Marketing will always have pressure. Finance will need lot of hardwork and market is very voletile. Where as HR is simple and its sitting in AC room and ordering people. Secondly females are preferred in HR by some cosmetic companies, so chances are very high that females will definately get jobs . Join some IT company on handsome salary, get married to someone who draws more andsome salary and say bye bye to HR field. As there is no more need to get into job. The point here I want to make is HR is not selected by these females as profession for life but for convinience or way out to get setttled and become wealthy instantly. I am sure you all will find so many examples of this sort around. And these examples are abound.

Females don't opt for jobs where there are IR (Industrial Relations- Unions etc ) are issues, because there you have to work hard and your HR skills are tested.

Where as these software companies give some goody-goody profiles to female dalls to make dalls as well as companies happy.

Its not ok till here. The most disturbing fact is there are so many skilled and deserving boyes around who don't get openings in HR field because of this sick mentality and there carriers are ruined. There are so many good HR professionals around who are not picked by IT companies beasue they are MALEs or they don't have any IT experience background.

Somewhere I think this vicious circle needs to be broken, so only talent will prevail, succeed and get rewarded, let it be male or female. I think HR is a profession and should be successful carrier for those who come to it by choice and determination to go along with ong and not for those who use it initially to test fruits of heavy salary and then don't want to rmain with it or divorce it when their means are over.

I hope with due respect to womenhood all will contribute very impersonnally and nutrally as these are my finding . I don't mind changing my openion after understaning any logical and convincing openion from you all.

Waiting for your feedback.....
