Performance appraisals bring back memories of my own discovery of some fundamental ideas last year. I attended the Arbinger seminars and have not been the same after that.... I also understood the true meaning of - performance -, and how to appraise.
Arbinger has developed a model of leadership performance appraisal - called the L4 method... where, one does a self appraisal and publishes it in four directions -- to the four kind of relationships we have at work...namely,

So the whole self-appraisal mechanism is to look at my own performance honestly -- basically each of us know, if we have really performed or not - so we are the best judge...
