Hi,

Can any one suggest me a designation that falls between a team leader - development and senior software engineer. The reason being we have developers who are working on projects single handedly without any team members. We dont want to make them team leaders, as they hardly have anyone to report to them, also we dont want to retain them as senior software engineers.

Please help me in this regard.

Thanks,

Kshma

May be you can designate them as Module Leaders as there is no specific team which is reporting to them as you said and moreover since he is handling a project individually obviously he’ll be the leader for that particular project. Project Leader is little high-end and so I would like to suggest a Module Lead designation to them.

Dear Kshma,

If your intent by redesignation is to give more social prestige, use designations like Senior Executive and Assistant Manager. I have used this successfully for people who are working on their own and dont have any one to report to.
