Good guys don't always make it to the TOP!

According to a research coauthored by Nic Halvey, Acting Assistant Professor of Organizational Behavior, Stanford Graduate School of Business, nice guys may not finish first, in fact, taking care of others in your group and even taking care of outsiders may reduce a nice guy’s chance of becoming a leader. Altruistic behavior may grant a status of prestige but niceness seldom takes one to the pinnacle of hierarchy. Dominance and selfishness are often the traits that makes one a potential leader. These conclusions were reached after a series of experiments wherein several group activities helped researchers decide when could the nice guys finish first and what factors made them finish last in a set of given tasks.
