The amount of authority increases with each level higher a person or organization is in hierarchy. I like to understand why is  hierarchy of authority critically important for an organization?

The hierarchy of authority in an organization is designed to benefit the company and the employees. The company grows with the strength of a competent managerial staff, and employees look to management to provide career development. A hierarchy is also a method of maintaining managerial integrity. 

In short, a company requires a hierarchy for its employees to establish the different levels to identify the chain of command and effectively communicate the process.
