Learning to make First Impressions
Archive

Though it is said, ” don’t judge the book by its cover”, it is true that we all make first impression.

What is “First impression”?

It is the first thought that you evoke in someone’s mind about you. It could be the way you dress, the way you walk or the way you talk to people. As long as you are being looked at, you are making an impact, strong or mild, positive or negative.

First impression works as a filter through which the subsequent decisions are taken, for e.g. should I continue interacting with this person or not, should I introduce him to my boss or not.

If you want something, you have to work for it. So, if you want to build relationships you have to learn to make the first impression. If you get the first impression right you clear the first step towards building a lasting relationship.

Bank personnel have to dress right to make an impact of being trustworthy and professional. After all people entrust their hard earned money to bankers’ wisdom and expertise. They must dress to show that they mean business.

Have you ever seen a hindu temple priest in jeans and tea shirt. Even if you have seen one, will you call him home to conduct a puja ceremony. Most likely not. Why?. Because you would expect a saffron clad priest to know the puja ceremony rituals well as against a jeans clad priest.

That’s the importance of first impressions.

All the fields are compulsory.
