How has HR improved over the years in terms of competitiveness, social responsibility, technology, skills and qualifications? How about linking business strategy with HR strategy? Can anyone foresee the future of HRM in the next decade? Does HR really does not justify profit/loss?

If u want to know the progress of HR then u will have to see how HRM has evolved from the personnel management.

You can get plenty of examples of how earlier employees were treated as mere tool for production and how they are treated today (Human Capital). Infosys even show humans as asset (ASSET and not liability) in their balance sheet !

HRM has given way to strategic HR management (SHRM). It actually links the Biz strategy with the HR strategy.

As far as future of HR is concerned : Many HR professionals are also finding their place in the board of directors. So u can very well know where u can land up in let's say 10-12 yrs !!!

If you understand HRM properly, then u will know that, it is not only the job of HR department to maintain good relations with all employees, in fact, it is everybody's job ! Overall yes it could be a KRA of HR ! but responsibility lies with others also.
