Information on Assessment Center

Hello Colleagues,

Number of times I got excellent inputs from here, hence this time also I am looking forward for the same.

We are in planning stage of development of assessment centre . There are lots of questions for which I am looking answers for .

1. What should be the size of the company to have assessment centre ( as we are 300 employees ) ?

2. Which are the HR processes assessment centre can be linked ( we are planning to relate recruitment , training , promotions )?

3.What are the main concerns normally faced in implementation stage ( mentioned all the above processes ) ?

4. Name the companies in India running assessment centre successfully ?

5. Vendors having expertise in developing / customising AC ?

Regards,

Mohanty

Re: Information on Assessment Center

As far as your queries are concerned:

1. Assessment Centres can be done in any size of company and customised to your organisation totally.

2. To add to the applications that you have given, I would like to add the most effective and advantageous "Development".

3. The concerns faced in the above processes are enumerated in several books.

Hope this helps ; )

Re: Information on Assessment Center

With regards to your queries, here are my replies :

1. No bar on the size of the company. the center needs to be designed around the positional grouping of the employees.

2. All can be related. however each needs a different level of competency identification and assessment. for example: promotions to focus more on the potential a person has for higher levels. recruitment to focus more on the entry level of the person concerned. training needs to have a balance of both.

3. Follow up of the assessment centers namely development training programs which needs to be put in place to bridge the gaps. A  re-assessment center to be held after 6 months to one year to gauge the development process which is equally large scale. Customisation of the assessment center to be complete. it is not advisable to use a standard model based on another company because the culture of company/requirements of the management/premise with which the assessment center would have been developed elsewhere would be different.
