Re: Six Sigma Projects in HR

I was a Business Process owner for Six Sigma in HR at Bangalore. You can have Six Sigma projects on various issues especially with regard to OD. Generally the measurement process may be difficult since mostly these activities cannot be quantified directly but quantification can be done indirectly.

The Project was termed PDP - People Development Plan. This initially started with the awareness of Six Sigma, completing a Job analysis/evaluation project (use Hay) to set the grading and salary scales of personnel at various levels. Competency mapping, training to fill in gaps and succession planning. Then build in your cost structure providing the savings made due to increased efficiency or productivity.

Six Sigma projects can also be done in recruitment. Here you can calculate the cost of recruitment and Induction and initiate steps to reduce the same.

Training is another vast area where these projects can be done. For that you will need to prepare a development plan interlinked to the company KRA's . Then measure the effectiveness of training through not only Kirk Patrick but also the final income or cost reductions made directly as a result of training since Six Sigma focuses on numbers.
