Career path for HR Professionals

hi everyone

i am a first year post graduate management student looking forward to pursue my career in HR.

i had my interview at a company last week for my summer internship. in the interview i was asked to chart out the career for hr professional right from the time a person joins the organisation till he/she becomes VP, HR.

The interviewer was not looking at designations but the various areas of HR that the person would be working in through his career.

can i get a clarification on this.

Re: Career path for HR Professionals

Hello,

The various sub-functions within the HR where one can gain experience during their career includes Recruitment/Staffing, Employee Relations, Performance Management, Compensation & Benefits, HR Operations & Administrations, Training & Developement.

The other non-traditional areas includes HR Strategy, Competency Mapping, Change Management, Mergers & Acquisition, Organization Development, Succession Planning, etc.

Hope this clarifies you.

Thanks

Hari
