The following steps we follow in our Org.

1. Present a Bouquet
2. Buy a Book (Not related to computer)
3. B’Day card signed by most of the employees
4. Buy cake ( Veg. & Non VEG )
5. Time generally after lunch.
6. All the expenses borne by the Co.

Suggestion: Co. can sponsor Dinner for 2/4 members of the employee's family.

I dont know why are you thinking in these lines. Well now a days we are talking of emotional bond between the employer and the employee. Apart from competitive salary, best technology, good working environment, these are the few practices where you can touch the employees emotion. Giving them the feeling that employer care's for them. Its not possible to directly measure the benefit of these practices for employers, but indirectly it pays a lot.

Nice though, Jac! I ask why should company provide you drinking water (carry a bottle along!) and subsidised or free lunch? Why should it provide you health cover? My friend, employess are valuable resources and these are ways to keep them motivated, make them feel a part of a larger family, retain them.

We also celebrate the birthdays of our employee by doing the following:

1. We have a LCD display at the reception, where in the names of the employees are dispalyed , wishing them on their Bthday.

2. HR representative meets the employee and wish them. Gift card and the bithday card is handed over to the manager, so that the team can wish him by writing on the card.

3. A monthly birthday celebration for all the employees is organised on the last working day of the month, where top management people are also there.

Do let me, know, if we can improve on this.
