I have been working in a company in the post of Business Development Manager,  Since they were some bad exp for the salary been paid, i immediately decied to quit within 4 months of me joining the company, 

My appointment letter says this :

You are expected to give a min of 20 days notice during probation period and two months after confirmation.

In case an employee resigns without serving the specified notice period, he/ she would be liable to pay back to the orgainsation an amount equivalant to the salary of employee for to the total numbe of days for which the notice period was not served.

During probation your services can be terminated at the sole discretion of the management. 

Since i was in a hurry in joining the new company i was not able to give them the notice period of 20 days. 

While reading some comments of the same topic i got to know that this agreement weaker and stands nothing in the eyes of law ,  because both the parties are not liable for the same notice period, is it true because they are asking now 20 days salary which is huge amount. 

Can anybody advice me if there is any clause thru thich i can come out since they have started to treaten me thru some phone calls saying they will complain to the new employer and hamper my career.
