Employee Survey Methods

I am trying to gather some information regarding how companies prefer to conduct employee surveys. (Engagement, satisfaction, opinion, etc.) I was hoping you guys could help me out by giving me you opinions on the following:

If you were tasked with the responsibility to conduct an employee survey, what would be your preferred method and why?

a) Online
b) Paper
c) Telephone

Also, would you prefer to outsource this responsibility or do it in house?

Hi,

Employee Surveys Provide Insight, Understanding, and an Overall Communication Tool for Business. Typically, employee satisfaction is measured to gauge employee satisfaction in areas such as management and teamwork. Employee satisfaction surveys and focus groups help the employer to identify areas of employee satisfaction and dissatisfaction. By conducting employee surveys you can communicate to your employees that their opinions matter.

If I had to conduct the employee survey internally, then I would go ahead with an online survey. However, (if the company's budgets permit) the best option would be to outsource the survey to a third party. Because the bottom line behind such surveys are to analyse an individuals perceptions regarding organization and management, both positive as well as negative. If there is an anonymity, the chances are better to get genuine feebacks. Else, the meaning of a survey is gone if an employee is made to sit in front of the manager and asked to quote the negative aspects.

Well, that was my suggestion. Over to other CHRM members...

Hi,

We conduct employee satisfaction survey on a fortnight basis on various areas in our organization. It is done through Intranet & feedback of the same is shared with the employee stating what all have been incorporated by the management & what all wont be possible for the time being or anytime in future. This has benefited in promotion of transparent method.

We started our Surveys with Paper feedback only. as paper allow to maintain secrecy and authentic data was collected when employees were convened of confidentiality. Paper one is very tedious & time consuming process.

If possible try online method as you being power of analysis would remain with you and you’l arrive at the right picture.
