 How many leaves are permitted for a employee in a year other tha holidays and how the procedure is followed by many companies, and one more qusestion. could any one of the HR let us know abt the Employee hand book and its contents

HI Suma,

We are an IT company . This is the leave policy that we are following:

1. Casual Leaves (CL): 12 in a year, 1 every month. One can accumulate as many as 3 in a month. Accumulation of 4 leads to the first getting lapsed,
2. Earned Leaves (EL): 21 after the completion of 1 year of service, with the first EL being 1.75 days,
3. 13 Compulsory holidays in a year,
4. Maternity Leaves : 12 weeks, 6 before & 6 after delivery
5. Paternity leaves : 5 days in the week of delivery only

*No separate Sick Leave

Dear Member,


Before drafting and implementing the leave policy it is important and advisable for HR to check the act (law of the land) prevailing in that place. For e.g all the shop establishments in Noida have to be in compliant with UP Shop establishment act.

Being compliant with the employment act will ensure that there is no deviation from the compliance.
