Dear HR Professionals,

I would like to invite your view for interview result. When the interviewee is not qualifying for a particular position is it not the interviewer responsibility to give proper feedback. I mean why he / she has been rejected.

I strongly believe that proper result should be given to the person whom u r not hiring so that he / she can improve in that particular area. But yes, it should not be in negative manner.

Please let me know your view.

Thank you very much for inviting comments. I do not agree with any one point of views due to following reason:

1. Because the company does not have time to run after the person to whom you have not selected.
2. It works some time, rather most of the time in reverse way that the rejected candidates could drag you to the court and you end up with futile exercise with a lot of expenditure.
3. if company have time and money to spend on the candidates to whom you are not hiring or rejected why not give time to improve the system and do the betterment of own employees.

I am sure lot of you may not agree with me, but it is not the genuine practice to tell the fault of a person whom you have rejected. He/she would ultimately know the faults or improvement to posses for the success. if any one would like to discuss in detail he/she could contact me  and I will explain the several other reasons.

Have come across this interesting discussion today.

Though I feel interview feedback should be given, but I did not have good experience in the past.
Few candidates were arguing stating that how evaluation was wrong and they are best suitable for this position. They were not ready to accept the judgment

I think below incident will help us in reaching at right conclusion

One of my collegue tried to provide feedback to a candidate after interview. Candidate upfrontly started fighting with him. She was arguing about the bases of his judgement. How can he conclude that She needs to work on areas......??

So in my openion one must avoid giving feedback untill & unless a candidate is specifically seeking feedback from interviewer.

Yes Interview Feedback should be given to candidate because of reasons as mentioned below:

1.  It helps candidate in improving the areas where he/she is lacking.
2.  It helps in establishing a cordial relationship between you & Candidate.

However it will consume more time & efforts,but it will give you excellent results later on.
