I happened to read this insightful article on Economic Times that is supported by survey statistics conducted by Towers Watson. I am herewith sharing with this community for reading purpose and attaching the survey statistics as an attachment.
Employee engagement is seen as a strategic priority at most companies besides being regarded as a crucial input for evaluating managerial performance. This was supported by 86% of respondents in a Towers Watson survey — Reimagining Employee Engagement in India. However, only 49% believe this is actually happening at their companies. 
The survey had responses from 133 of India's top organisations and leaders, including CEOs and HR managers, focusing on the gap between aspiration and action, reports ET."Engagement as a topic and the evolution of the concept of job satisfaction gained prominence around 1993. 
Since then, companies have been placing importance on fi nding out what their employees are feeling, but it is equally crucial to be clear on whether actionable findings are giving results in productivity and profi tability," said Ashish Ambasta, practice leader, organisational surveys and insights. 

"This survey shows that employee engagement surveys, while having the potential to deliver valuable insights and provide strategic guidance, are not being leveraged to their full degree."
